The teenage years are no picnic. Rather than a nice, gentle progression into adulthood, for many it’s a rollercoaster with hormonal ups and downs, awkward body changes, mood swings and social complications. Many teens feel utterly uncomfortable with the way they look, and struggle with their body image. The last thing they need when going through a difficult period like that is peer pressure to look a certain way, let alone body shaming by their peers, but unfortunately, this is an occurrence that’s increasingly common.
My Butterfly Sessions are a way of giving a teenage girl a confidence boost at a time when she needs it most. She gets to be the centre of attention for the day, pampered and fussed over, made to feel beautiful and special, and has the most beautiful portraits taken of her where her confidence and personality shines through.
Recently, my own beautiful preteen was in need of a boost, and I hadn’t photographed her in a while, so we decided a Butterfly session was just the thing the doctor ordered. We invited one of her best friends and planned our session.
On the day itself, it was pouring down, so we decided to do our session in a local motorway underpass – not the most glamorous of locations, but a very effective one, photographically speaking.
These are just a handful of my favourite images from the session.
If your teen is in need of a lift of spirits, please give me a call and let’s chat about a Butterfly session for her.
Wishing you a happy day,
