My first love, in photography terms, was macro photography. This will be old news to those of you who have been following my work for a while, but it may come as a surprise to those only familiar with my portraits.
I adore the peace and the zen-like concentration that comes with photographing something small and inanimate, I guess it appeals to the introvert in me to sometimes work wholly alone. It allows me to get out of my own head and just focus on something that doesn’t care about my worries, about how bad my day has been or how tired I am, or even whether any of my photos of it turn out. I also love taking something that normally gets overlooked and capturing its beauty.
A few years ago, I found myself without a macro lens, so for a while, macro photography fell by the way side and my focus was only on portraiture and fantasy art. Recently, though, I added extension tubes to my equipment, which allow me to indulge my passion again. These shots are from my first session with the tubes, which took place, oh, maybe five minutes after I unpacked them. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I enjoyed taking them!
Thank you for visiting. Wishing you a wonderful day!
